The direction of the South teaches us about our emotions. Like Water, our emotions are fluid and can change rapidly from one form to another.

The South teaches us to examine our concept of Trust and Innocence. It is the place of our inner child voice. The South asks us- Do we trust? Do we trust what we feel? Have we retained a sense of innocence or has fear made us jaded and cynical? Are we at the mercy of our emotions, or are they balanced with the other aspects of our physical, intellectual and spiritual lives.

The South is one of the four Cardinal directions. The other three are the West, North and East. These four directions teach us of balance in our physical, material world. The Elders teach, "As Above, So Below". These four directions represent our So Below, or physical existence.
